Connecting Newcomers with Jobs in Ontario's Manufacturing Sector

Project Overview

The project serves 85 unemployed and underemployed newcomers to Canada who are actively seeking up-skilling and re-skilling opportunities and have an interest in training to work in supply chain-related and logistics positions in the manufacturing sector for companies in the GTA. This program enhances their employability through sector-specific training, and tangible Canadian workplace exposure, preparing participants for immediate employment in supply chain operations in manufacturing.

Additionally, 15 management employees from the manufacturing organization network which the project lead applicant will establish for participant placement will be given diversity, equity and inclusion training to enhance their access into the labour market and increase their ability to attract, recruit and retain qualified workers.

Training Activities

Skills Development Training Level 1: Supply Chain Foundations (36 instructor led, virtual classroom training hours over 6 weeks plus a Workplace Experience Component of 1 site visit and 4 industry mentor-lead training hours over a week)

Supply Chain Foundations training will give participants a comprehensive overview of the manufacturing supply chain sector. The program features a capstone project which will be analyzed with an industry mentor in order to receive real-world feedback. Participants will also visit a manufacturing company to benefit from exposure to real-world operations.

Skills Development Training Level 2: Advanced Supply Chain (36 instructor led, virtual classroom training hours over 6 weeks plus a Simulation Exercise of 6 instructor led, virtual classroom training hours over one week)

Advanced Supply Chain training will equip participants with advanced skills required to effectively manage supply chain operations, and features an advanced supply chain integration simulation, which will allow participants to put their knowledge into practice.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Bias Consciousness for Leaders in Manufacturing Organizations (6 instructor led, virtual classroom training hours over 2 weeks) 

This session will provide leaders within manufacturing employers a safe space to explore the fundamental knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to lead a diverse workforce confidently and effectively.

Unique Feature

The project includes the provision of comprehensive wrap-around job-search assistance by the lead applicant.

Digital Drive: Enabling Small Business Growth

Project Overview

This project will help 115 entrepreneurs and small businesses from the Indo-Canadian community in the GTA become self-sufficient in developing digital marketing strategies while implementing and evaluating digital marketing campaigns for business growth. This program will enable them to scale their marketing efforts, strengthen their online presence and deliver compelling content that will help them keep in touch with their current customers and connect with new business opportunities. They will also learn to identify elements of success and failure in their digital marketing plans and make necessary changes to optimize results. 

Training Activities

Digital Marketing Mastery Bootcamp for Small Business Program (36 instructor led, virtual classroom training hours over 6 weeks) 

Module 1: Preparing for Marketing Mastery – Put the building blocks in place to revolutionize your digital marketing approach and outperform your competition.

Module 2: Choose and Use the Right Tools – Get hands-on and supercharge your marketing with the right digital platforms and technique

Module 3: Optimize With Data and Analysis – Unlock the full potential of your data and gain unprecedented insights into what your customers want, like, and need.

Module 4: Love it When a Plan Comes Together – Create a crystal-clear vision for your marketing strategy and turn it into a concrete action plan that delivers results.

Unique Feature

Participants receive a microgrant of $500 to invest in their own business's digital marketing initiatives, giving them the opportunity to experiment with new techniques and put their acquired skills to work in the real world.
